What to Expect
What to Expect During a Kambo Session
Preparation and Application
About 15 minutes before the medicine is applied, you'll drink 1 to 1.5 liters of water to prepare your body. Kambo is typically applied to the skin on the shoulders, but we may work with specific energy lines or meridians based on your unique needs, inspired by principles from Chinese medicine.
Using a small stick, we gently burn tiny points on the surface layer of the skin. The number of points depends on your individual needs, but first-time treatments often involve 3–5 points. Some may require fewer or more points. Over time, these marks generally fade within 1–6 months, and with repeated sessions, healing tends to happen faster as the body becomes more optimized.
During the Session
Once Kambo is applied, effects are felt within 10–15 seconds. You may experience a rise in temperature, an energetic rush in the crown of your head, and an increased heartbeat. As this begins, focus on breathing deeply and calmly.
You may notice swelling in the throat and lymph nodes as the medicine flushes toxins from your system. Bile is released into your stomach from the liver and gallbladder, and you might feel discomfort as decades of stored toxins begin to move. Soon, the purging process will start, bringing physical and emotional relief.
Emotional Release
Kambo is a deeply cleansing experience, often releasing stored anger, sadness, or grief. It’s natural to cry, yell, or express emotions during the session. Allow yourself to surrender to the process, quiet your mind, and embrace the healing.
The Purge
You’ll continue drinking water throughout the session to aid the detoxification process. The water acts as a pump, funneling toxins from your liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and pancreas into your stomach to be expelled. The more you focus on drinking and breathing, the smoother the process will be.
Completion and Recovery
The intense phase of purging typically lasts 10–15 minutes, though the entire session usually takes 30–45 minutes. Afterward, you’ll feel the energetic shifts in your body as the process winds down. Many describe sensations like energy pulsing or an electric current coursing through their cells.
For most, the body begins to feel cleaner and lighter after just a few sessions. Rarely, some individuals may require a longer recovery, but about 95% of participants are able to drive home within 1–2 hours. While you may feel slightly “off” the rest of the day, most people report waking up the next morning feeling energized and revitalized.
Aftercare
Stay hydrated with plenty of water and electrolytes after your session. This helps ensure the detox process continues smoothly. Occasional side effects, such as mild headaches, may occur but typically subside quickly.
Kambo is a profound gift for cleansing and healing the body, mind, and spirit. Each session brings you closer to balance, resilience, and transformation.
